Electric cars are now outpacing even Ferraris, making it difficult for them to keep up.

Kia EV6 GT vs. Ferrari Purosangue: A Drag Race

The latest drag race video pits the Kia EV6 GT against the Ferrari Purosangue. While both cars seem similar at first glance, one is electric and the other uses a powerful, naturally aspirated V12 engine, with the Ferrari costing significantly more.

The UK’s Carwow conducted the race, demonstrating that a higher price doesn’t always guarantee better performance. The Kia EV6 GT boasts a revised dual-motor powertrain producing 641 horsepower (with overboost) and 568 pound-feet of torque, enabling it to reach 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds with launch control.

However, independent tests show the Kia can accelerate even faster, beating the Purosangue’s claimed 3.3-second sprint time. Throughout the video, the Kia consistently takes the lead.

The Ferrari claims a dry weight of 4,482 pounds, but Car and Driver measured one at 4,850 pounds. This weight closely matches the Kia’s claimed weight of 4,884 pounds. As a result, the EV6 GT has a lower power-to-weight ratio but more torque than the Purosangue.

The only time the Ferrari won was when the driver engaged a driving mode that simulates a combustion engine, but this was a one-time occurrence and didn’t reflect the Kia’s true performance.

The Ferrari Purosangue starts at over $395,000, while the Kia EV6 GT has a starting price of $65,275. This makes the Ferrari nearly six times more expensive. Despite its luxurious features and design, the high price tag might not be justified for many buyers.

The fact that a Kia can outperform a Ferrari in a straight-line acceleration test highlights the rapid changes in the performance car market over the past decade.

I'm Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility. I've been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I've faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it. That's how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won't find in flashy press releases or sales brochures. Whether you're a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: "EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures." When I'm not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you'll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
