New EV Charging Hub Opens in New Jersey
EV charging stations for commercial trucks are becoming more common near important locations like ports and major roads throughout the country. While most of these are currently in Southern California, EV Edison has opened a large charging and fleet service center in Kearny, New Jersey. This location is just a few minutes away from the Port of Newark, the Holland Tunnel, and major highways.
This new site is designed to provide EV fleet operators with everything they need for smooth, large-scale operations. The first part of the site includes 15 Zerova DC fast chargers. Each charger has two plugs and can deliver 180 kW of power.
The Kearny hub offers many conveniences for drivers, including 24/7 secure access, plenty of parking and staging areas for trucks, food and drink options, and dedicated lounges and office spaces. It also has public charging available for regular passenger electric vehicles.
“This facility is about more than just charging – it’s about helping businesses move towards a cleaner future,” said Dr. Shihab Kuran, Executive Chairman of EV Edison. “We’re providing the essential infrastructure for companies using electric trucks to operate efficiently and reliably.”
Einride, a company that provides freight technology and uses electric and autonomous trucks, is already using the new site. “This location gives us a great base to expand our electric truck fleet in the Northeast,” said Chelsea Thompson, Director of Operations at Einride. “EV Edison’s infrastructure, location, and services make them a perfect partner as we grow our clean freight solutions.”
EV Edison is looking for fleet operators, vehicle lessors, and logistics companies to contact them to reserve charging spots and explore partnership opportunities. More charging capacity and services are planned for future phases at the Kearny site and other locations in the New York area.

I’m Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility.
I’ve been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I’ve faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it.
That’s how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won’t find in flashy press releases or sales brochures.
Whether you’re a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: “EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures.”
When I’m not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you’ll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
