Lucid Gravity SUV is Faster Than a Corvette Z06

Lucid’s electric minivan can outrun the Chevy Corvette Z06 and offers more space than a Ford Explorer. Is the Lucid Gravity truly the “ultimate uncompromising SUV”?

Lucid’s electric SUV is impressive inside and out. It has a driving range of up to 450 miles, fast charging (200 miles in under 11 minutes), and 120 cubic feet of cargo space – more than the Ford Explorer (87.8 cu ft).

It’s also quicker than most sports cars. The Grand Touring trim has up to 845 hp, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. However, the Dream Edition takes it to another level.

Powered by dual electric motors, the Lucid Gravity Dream Edition boasts 1,070 hp. To see how Lucid’s SUV compares, Car and Driver tested one.

On the test track, the Lucid’s minivan covered a quarter-mile in just 10.6 seconds, beating a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to 150 mph by nearly three seconds.

According to Car and Driver, the Gravity impressed not only in the quarter-mile but also in all acceleration tests. It hit 30 mph in 1.4 seconds, 70 mph in 3.7 seconds, and 100 mph in just 5.9 seconds.

Dave Vanderwerp, the testing director, noted that the electric SUV “gets a sort of second wave of thrust starting around 60 mph.”

With a quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds, the Lucid Gravity is the fastest SUV tested by Car and Driver, outperforming the Rivian Tri-Motor Max (11.1 seconds), BMW iX M60 (11.5 seconds), and Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV.

Although the Rivian’s 850 hp R1S Tri-Motor beat the Gravity to 60 mph, the Lucid SUV went nearly 20 mph faster in the quarter-mile.

It also performed faster than gasoline-powered super SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus Performante (11.2 seconds) and Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT (11.2 seconds). However, testing a Tesla Model X Plaid hasn’t happened yet.

In a drag race called the “1,000 hp mom missiles,” Hagerty pitted the Gravity Dream Edition against the Audi RS Q8 Performance, Range Rover Sport SV, Porsche Macan Turbo Electric, Rivian R1S Quad, and Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

The result was a tie between the Lucid Gravity, the Porsche Panamera Turbo, and the Rivian R1S Quad, all reaching the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds.

The Lucid Gravity is available for order in the US starting at $94,900. Later this year, Lucid will launch a lower-priced Touring trim, priced from $79,900.

I'm Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility. I've been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I've faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it. That's how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won't find in flashy press releases or sales brochures. Whether you're a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: "EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures." When I'm not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you'll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
