Aventon Unveils the Aventure M: A Smarter Fat Tire E-Bike
Aventon, a popular brand of electric bikes, has released a new version of its beloved Aventure model: the Aventure M. This updated bike features a mid-drive motor, offering more power, smoother shifting, and enhanced connectivity. Aventon claims the Aventure M is their most advanced e-bike yet.
Power and Performance
The Aventure M replaces the rear hub motor with a 100 Nm mid-drive motor. This provides more efficient power delivery and a more natural riding feel due to a double-sided torque sensor. This motor offers significantly more power than many other e-bikes in its category. The Aventure M is rated for Class 3, allowing for pedal assist speeds up to 28 mph (45 km/h) and a throttle top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h). A throttle is sold separately, likely to comply with new California regulations regarding Class 1 and 3 e-bikes.
Riders can also set the bike to Class 1 or 2 limits using the companion app. Aventon has been praised for the user-friendly nature of their app, making it easy to manage bike settings.
Advanced Technology
The Aventure M comes with Aventon’s new ACU (Aventon Control Unit), a custom IoT system packed with smart features. These include GPS tracking, theft detection, geofencing, remote locking, and over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. For added security, the bike has a passcode-locked on-switch and a physical rear-wheel lock and alarm. Aventon has previously used OTA updates to provide power boosts to their e-bikes.
Range and Build
The Aventure M has a removable 36V 20Ah (720 Wh) battery, offering an estimated range of up to 85 miles (137 km) at lower power levels. Real-world range will vary based on terrain and assist level, but riders can expect approximately 40–60 miles (65-100 km) under typical use.
The bike is equipped with 4-inch wide fat tires, a suspension seatpost, and a front suspension fork. The total weight of the Aventure M is around 73 lbs (33 kg), which is surprisingly light for a fully loaded fat tire e-bike.
Price and Availability
The Aventure M is priced at US $2,899. It is available for purchase online and through Aventon’s network of over 1,800 partner dealers across the U.S.
Electrek’s Take
The Aventon Aventure M represents a significant step forward for the brand. By incorporating smart technology and a powerful mid-drive motor, Aventon has created an e-bike that goes beyond basic features. The improved climbing power, smooth automatic shifting, and built-in GPS tracking offer a more refined and capable riding experience.
While the price point is higher than their previous models, the Aventure M offers a compelling value for riders seeking a high-performance, all-terrain e-bike with advanced features. The potential range and the smoothness of the automatic shifting could make this a leader in the category for those wanting a robust and user-friendly e-bike. I’m Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility.
I’ve been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I’ve faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it.
That’s how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won’t find in flashy press releases or sales brochures.
Whether you’re a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: “EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures.”
When I’m not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you’ll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
