Wireless Charging for Electric Bikes is Here

Forget the hassle of cables and finding charging ports. TILER, a Dutch startup, has released its TILER Compact system, a simple wireless charger designed to make charging electric bikes easier for riders.

How it Works

The system includes a charging kickstand that attaches to most e-bikes and a thin charging mat that you simply place underneath. When you drop the kickstand on the mat, the bike starts charging automatically using inductive power transfer – no plug needed. TILER claims a 500Wh battery will fully charge in about 3.5 hours, offering similar performance to traditional wired chargers.

This setup offers convenience by reducing clutter, eliminating frayed cables, and avoiding the need to bend down to find a charging port.

TILER says its system works with around 75% of existing e-bike platforms from brands like Bosch, Yamaha, and Bafang. The charger uses a low 150W output, making charging fast while keeping the system lightweight (the tile weighs only 2kg).

Real-World Impact

TILER has already installed over 200 charging points across Western Europe, mainly for bike-sharing, delivery services, hospitality, and hotels. A study in Munich showed that a cargo bike operator saved about €1,250 per month in labor costs, avoided thousands in spare batteries, and reduced battery damage by 20%. This means less maintenance and more reliable operation.

The TILER Compact system will soon be available for pre-order with a €250 price tag (approximately US $290) for the kickstand and tile together. A €29 refundable deposit is required, and deliveries are expected in the summer of 2026, initially covering European markets.

Electrek’s Take

I think this is a brilliant idea, especially for shared e-bikes that are often returned to docks. As long as users are comfortable parking their bikes with the kickstand on the tile, it seems like a very practical solution.

For individual consumers, it’s a really convenient feature, eliminating the need to plug in at floor level and reducing the risk of back strain. While the price might seem high, it’s a worthwhile convenience.

I'm Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility. I've been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I've faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it. That's how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won't find in flashy press releases or sales brochures. Whether you're a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: "EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures." When I'm not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you'll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
