UK bus company First Bus allows the public to use its electric vehicle charging stations.

First Bus, a major bus company in the UK, operates over 600 electric buses nationwide. Now, under the name First Charge, the company is opening up its charging facilities at some of its bus depots to businesses, fleet owners, and private EV drivers.

This program will include 15 First Bus depots in Scotland and England. Each depot has high-powered chargers, ranging from 150 kW to 360 kW. Locations offer charging bays suitable for large vehicles, secure facilities, and competitive pricing.

The first depot to open is the Caledonia depot in Glasgow. It can charge up to 34 vehicles at a time. Charging is available from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, and various payment options are offered.

First Bus is already sharing charging facilities with several UK fleet operators like DPD, Centrica, Openreach, and Police Scotland. The company states that demand for private and pre-arranged charging spaces is growing, especially among those in the expanding electric heavy goods vehicle sector and other passenger transport services.

Isabel McAllister, First Bus UK’s Chief Sustainability and Compliance Officer, said the company is working towards a zero-emission fleet by 2035, investing over £320 million so far. With First Charge, they aim to accelerate decarbonization by sharing their infrastructure.

Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, noted that the Scottish Government’s investment over £6.4 million in the Caledonia Depot was intended to encourage innovative and collaborative use of the charging infrastructure. Through First Charge, First Bus is helping to expand Scotland’s public EV charging network.

I'm Rohan Mehta, the voice behind KhelRe—a trusted and steadily growing blog dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) in India. With over five years of experience as a tech and automotive blogger, I turned my frustrations with owning an EV into a mission: to help others make more intelligent choices in this fast-evolving world of electric mobility. I've been an early adopter of EV technology—I repurchased my first electric scooter in 2019. That experience opened my eyes to both the promises and the pitfalls of this new mode of transport. From slow charging times and range anxiety to misleading specs and hidden costs, I've faced it all. But instead of walking away, I decided to write about it. That's how KhelRe was born—a no-nonsense, hands-on blog where I share practical, real-world reviews of EV cars, bikes, and scooters. I break down features, range, performance, and pricing from a user-first perspective. I take pride in simplifying complex tech into clear, valuable insights—offering tips, ownership stories, and advice you won't find in flashy press releases or sales brochures. Whether you're a first-time EV buyer or just a curious auto enthusiast, my goal is to help you navigate the EV landscape with confidence. My motto: "EV knowledge should come from experience, not just brochures." When I'm not test-driving the latest e-scooter or comparing charging networks, you'll probably find me tinkering with my garage EV setup, chatting with fellow enthusiasts online, or sipping chai while writing my next blog post from a cosy local café.
